Heavy Equipment Transport Team Helps Stabilize 180 Foot Windmill Blade
Mission Wrecker’s heavy equipment transport team responded to a call on the I-35 North in New Braunfels, TX. A truck was transporting a 180 foot long windmill blade when it began experiencing power issues. The driver immediately pulled over to the shoulder of the road and called Mission Wrecker for assistance. The heavy equipment team was immediately deployed to the customer’s location. Once they arrived, they were briefed on the plan. The customer had brought in another tractor and needed someone to hold up the windmill blade where it connected to the tractor while they swapped units. Unfortunately, this operation could not be completed on the side of the I-35 as there was not enough space. Safety is always Mission Wrecker’s number one priority so a new location would need to be found. The Mission Wrecker team made a quick scouting mission and found an appropriate location nearby. Thankfully, the driver had pulled over before the tractor completely failed so he was able to get it to the new location. Once there, the team rigged up their 50 ton rotator to the front of the trailer to support it. They lifted it ever so slightly in the air, allowing them to relieve any pressure from the trailer and prevent it from sinking in the wet ground below. With the trailer supported and stabilized, the driver was able to quickly swap out the old trailer with the new one. Thankfully, the tractor swap went off without a hitch and the truck driver was able to complete his journey! Fantastic work out there team!
